Religious Consumer Expectations

“I went to the church for a year, but the pastor’s sermons just didn’t speak to me.”

“I liked the music… but no one ever came up and introduced themselves to me.”

“I attended the women’s Bible study… but no one seemed to care about what I had to say.”

Merely going to a church almost never meets our expectations. Church can be uplifting. It can help you meet new people. It can encourage you to be a good person.

But if you want to encounter the risen LORD, and know the joy of being loved, you have to know the pains of being part of the Body.

If being the Church was easy, Jesus would not have needed to die. He would not have needed to rise again.
